MEET THE DJ's

Passionate Music Enthusiasts

At Skunk River Radio, our DJs are more than voices on the air — they’re part of the community.

They celebrate Midwest artists chasing big dreams while keeping the legends of 90’s and 2000’s country alive and loud. They’re here for the early mornings, the late-night drives, and every small-town moment in between. Because country music isn’t just what we play — it’s who we are.

Steve Shettler

Steve Shettler is the owner and manager of Skunk River Radio.  Steve has lived in Sigourney, Iowa his entire life and has worked in southeast Iowa radio since 1993.  He also started Steve Shettler Media in 2023 with Facebook and Youtube content for southeast Iowa.  He is married to his wife, Staci, and they have one adult daughter, Rylie. Steve enjoys spending time with his family and their household of pets, along with watching Iowa Hawkeye sports.  And, watch out, because Steve is quite proud of his 2 - 0 record in the professional wrestling ring!  Steve brings a wealth of knowledge in country music and a passion for giving Iowa and independent country artists a platform to be heard and seen.  He won the prestigious Music Row Reporter of the Year in 2020.  Listen to Steve on Skunk River Radio weekdays from 6am to noon!

The Haze

The Haze isn’t just a voice on the dial—he’s a full-blown atmospheric event.
Rumor has it he learned to mix records somewhere between a basement party and a thunderstorm that knocked out half the county. Ever since, he’s been chasing that same electricity—equal parts chaos, rhythm, and just enough swagger to keep things interesting. They say he once kept a dance floor alive using nothing but a busted turntable, a backup generator, and pure stubbornness.
Before landing on Skunk River Radio, The Haze allegedly bounced from underground sets to “you-had-to-be-there” pop-up shows, building a reputation as the guy who could read a room before the first beat dropped. His style? Unpredictable. His timing? Surgical. His ability to turn a slow afternoon into something worth sticking around for? Questionably supernatural.
Now holding it down weekday afternoons, The Haze brings that same edge to the airwaves—blending music, mood, and just enough mischief to keep listeners leaning in. Whether he’s spinning tracks, cracking a line, or riding the vibe of the day, one thing’s certain: You don’t just listen to The Haze… you drift into it.
